IE Consulting prepared a Site Specific Flood Risk Assessment for a proposed residential development at Carley’s Bridge, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. It is proposed to construct 97 dwellings and crèche facilities within the 6.1 hectare site. This development was granted planning permission in early 2019.
The assessment included a desktop screening study to identify the potential sources of flood risk that may have an impact on the existing site. The primary flood risk to the site was identified as an extreme fluvial flood event in the adjacent watercourses. Residual or secondary flood risks were also identified as being potential blockage of an upstream river bridge or from a possible surcharge of the urban drainage in the vicinity of the site. OPW CFRAMS flood extent maps are available in this area and therefore the predicted flood levels provided from this study were utilised to delineate Flood Zone A and Flood Zone B within the site.
